MIDDLEBURY COLLEGE. MIDDLEBURY, VT 05753. The Women's and Gender Studies
Program invites applications for a tenure-track position beginning in
September, 2001. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in
the areas of race and ethnicity whose teaching and research foreground the
intersections among race/ethnicity, gender, class and sexuality. Second
preference will be given to candidates with an expertise in postcolonial and
international gender studies. Disciplinary field is open. Candidate will
be expected to teach interdisciplinary courses in Women's and Gender Studies
as well as cross-listed courses in his/her specific discipline. Appointment
will be made at the rank of advanced Assistant Professor (Ph.D. and several
years' teaching experience) or Associate Professor (with tenure).
Applicants must have experience in Women's and Gender Studies or a related
field and must also have a strong record of publications, a demonstrated
commitment to undergraduate teaching, and experience in working
collaboratively with colleagues and community. Send letter of application
with a statement of teaching interests, curriculum vitae, a sample of
scholarly work, and three current letters of recommendation, at least two of
which must speak to teaching ability, to: Professor Margaret K. Nelson,
