Research Fellow
===============
Would you like to:
- work with an Onyx2 InfiniteReality dual pipe system, with
semi-immersive 3D display, spatialised sound system and advanced
interface capability?
- contribute to leading edge research into interactive 3D display
and sound systems for the automotive sector?
- work in a state-of-the-art research environment situated in
parkland 10 minutes from the centre of Glasgow?
The Digital Design Studio at Glasgow School of Art has been awarded a
three year research contract from EPSRC to develop systems which allow
the public to engage with realistic and credible virtual automotive
models, resulting in a fundamental reassessment of the way cars are
sold. Developments in advanced 3D computer modelling, virtual
environments with touch and sound cues, and communication
technologies, suggest that new and imaginative possibilities exist.
We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to devise innovative ways
in which this technology can be used to deliver information to the
public in a visually exciting, credible manner. An ideal candidate
will be educated to postgraduate level, or have equivalent
professional experience. S/he will have a good number of the
following attributes:
- experience of programming in C++ and high performance graphics
including IRIS Performer or OpenGL
- experience in software development within the high performance
graphics industry
- familiarity with the Opus Studio suite
- experience in developing immersive interactive head-tracked
stereoscopic applications
- experience in 3D user interface design.
Salary will be in the area of £22K per annum, but will reflect
qualifications and experience.
The Digital Design Studio is a postgraduate research centre at Glasgow
School of Art. It has strategic links with leading edge companies
such as Silicon Graphics and Alias|Wavefront, and a number of
significant industrial partners. The Studio resides in the House for
an Art Lover, built in 1995 to original designs by Charles Rennie
Mackintosh, and situated in parkland 10 minutes from the centre of
Glasgow.
