I empathise with your comment. As a child I had some spectacular spills on
skates, early wooden skate boards, bicycles and one later on a motorcycle.
The later of course I was hearing a helmet. However I could not resist the
urge when visiting Crete a few years ago to get an off road bike and ride
without a helmet for a week. To the point, your latter examples are relative
to health and safety, an area I am currently studying for the NEBOSH
certificate. Under HSE law, people in some of those occupations should be
wearing helmets e.g. roofers and probably window cleaners. Surely common
sense should prevail and if there is a probability of sustaining a head
injury it would be sensible to wear a bone dome. Your question as to why you
don't do it is probably related to the psychology of familiarity breeding
contempt, I wonder, do you smoke?
