APOLOGIES FOR ANY CROSS-POSTINGS
Towards Sustainable Product Design
6th international conference
October 2001
The Netherlands
To be organised by:
The Centre for Sustainable Design in association with Delft University of
Technology, Design for Sustainability Programme
Supported by United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)
To move towards sustainability will require new ideas and thinking. This
will mean that companies need to go beyond eco-efficient products and
processes towards 'triple bottom line' answers. Innovative solutions are
required that significantly reduce energy and resource consumption.
However, approaches to enable Sustainable Consumption will be a feature of
more sustainable solutions. A key opportunity may come from the
development of Sustainable Service Systems (3S) that focus on both function
and system level innovations.
TSPD #6 will highlight new research, methodologies and cases studies
covering Sustainable Service Systems (3S). This will include papers on a
range of themes including:
* Environmental Product Policy
* 3S methodology and tools development
* Management approaches
* Strategies
- Service extension
- Product extension
- Leasing/renting/sharing
- Product substitution
- Production on demand
- Demand side management
TSPD #6 invites papers from business, researchers and academics. Abstracts
(500 words) should be sent to CfSD by 31st January 2001. These will be
reviewed by an International Advisory Board and selected authors will be
invited to submit full papers.
