"accurate" grid references can hide as much as they display, for
example we have Badminton Park c750 hectares, one dot in that lot is
hardly a give away. Surely we have passed the detectorist paranoia
stage and are going more toward the public ownership of archaeology.

I have submitted my bid to the HLF for a web enabled version of the
Warwickshire SMR (hurrah!). However, I have been asked to confirm if I
intend to use 4 or 6 figure grid references. I did not make a firm
commitment when I put in the bid but I started by thinking that 6 figure
references were OK, but now having spoken to colleagues I think that 4
figure references are most appropriate.
I have told my HLF caseworker that I would ask the question of SMR
Officers
on SMR Forum to help to form a reasoned opinion.
So, what do you reckon?
