Yes, it's an idea I have also considered (and maybe have been too fast
to throw away).
For completeness, another usage of different namespaces has also been
proposed by Seth Russel [1] on the rss-dev list.
The only disadvantage I would see in your approach (which has many
advantages) is that it would mean defining a RSS module [2] per metadata
system (or taxonomy scheme as called in other posts) and I wonder if, on
the "administrative" point of view this isn't quite heavy.
Concretely, it would mean that instead of having one taxonomy module
behaving in a common way over different metadata, we would have a
specific taxonomy module per taxonomy scheme.
On the other hand, it can be more simple for parsers to filter out which
scheme they want to use.
It's definitely something to consider !
