Hello mailbase,
I was hoping the mailbase could help me out with some resources. I am
currently studying nerve injuries and am trying to wrap my brain around
wallerian degeneration and Neuronal regeneration. Mainly, how does a nerve
that has been injured respond to injury?
ANother question that came up in discussion with my classmates and maybe
someone can anwer it:
what is the physiological process of regeneration of a neuropraxia? What is
the length of time for it to heal?
--> with a neuropraxia, my understanding anyway, is there is no disruption
with the axon; and the problem is with the myelin sheaths. therefore, in
regeneration, does it occur at 1mm/day or is the regeneration of the myelin
sheath occurring at a process of gradual dispersion?
I hope my thoughts are clear, I look forward to reading your suggestions,
Assunta
