I've been out of circulation for a week or so, and I missed a great deal of
the discussion of the Cross Nimbus.. I looked at 107 slides out of a
collection of 3000 slides of Danish church w3all paintings, and found
several which raised questions in my mind.
In Balerup, dated 1240, the Agnus Die is shown with a Cross Nimbus. Is this
a common occurrence or unusual?
In Bellinge, dated 1496, the Dove of the Holy Ghost is shown with a Cross
Nimbus. Again, is this common or unusual?
In the same church, the wall painting of the Last Supper shows Christ with
a simple nimbus, similar to those shown of the disciples. I this depiction
common?
Thanks for any information, Jim.
