On 18 November 2000, at the London School of Economics & Political Science;
Houghton Street, WC2A 2AE the first of two linked AMGS conferences devoted
to the study of youth literature of particular interest to teachers.
Organised by Susan Tebbutt, Bradford, this one will focus on some
historical aspects of Jugend-literatur, the criteria for chosing texts and
contemporary aspects of East German children's literature and young peoples
magazines. From these critical reflections we will move to what promises to
be a fascinating afternoon with two highly successful authors. Jürg
Schubiger from Switzerland and Renate Welsh from Austria will read from
their works. This will be followed by a wine reception and an opportunity
to meet the authors.
The afternoon session will be open to Sixth-Formers.
