I must be turning into a train spotter :-)
I have spent what what was meant to be just a couple of hours researching
the current rail debate and have concluded:
* Well done the BBC, the digital curriculum is creeping up on us. I was able
to watch an entire Panorama documentary on the state of the Rail Industry in
a tiny box on my pc. OK not wide screen digital nicam stereo, but watchable
over a 56k modem. Similarly I can select and watch individual items from the
BBC news, or access an archive of previous radio broadcasts.
* the rail crisis highlights the fault lines of a market economy. Different
stakeholders with different objectives in conflict - is there an inevitable
profit v safety trade off? Really useful to see how the government attempt
to correct market failure through a regulator. Really useful and topical
stuff although a little challenging for AS?
The full fruits of my labour can be seen at

Time to do some real work ie marking, and who knows, a little chilling out
Have a good break
