It is our pleasure to invite you to join the NGOFORUM worldwide e-mail
interactive discussion list.
The purpose of this forum is to enhance cooperation, collaboration and
networking among NGOs and their partners and to facilitate the
generation, dissemination and sharing of information, experiences and
ideas on the NGO sector and on relating activities. This is a forum of
NGOs contacts and information exchange aimed at developing solidarity
and communication linkages between members in order to maintain close
working relationships.
The forum aims to facilitate analysis, campaign and discussion on issues
of current relevance to socio-economic development and to debate on
international policies that may affect the Global Society and the
ordinary people adversely, to inform interested parties about NGOs'
activities and promote NGO cooperation and sharing of experiences; to
inform NGOs about opportunities available to them such as: training,
fundraising, conferences, workshops, etc highlight key issues for
action, success stories, views, local initiatives and experiences of
NGOs and publicise their work. It will contribute to increase the
visibility of the contributions made by NGOs to socio-economic and
sustainable development.
The forum caters for a broad range of issues including environment and
sustainable development, poverty and hunger eradication, international
relations, globalisation, international finance institutions,
international solidarity and cooperation, women and children,
international aid to the South, North-South exchanges, cooperation and
dialogue; training, education and human resource development.
In addition to posing queries, subscribers are encouraged to respond to
queries as well.
Subscribers are welcome to post information on forthcoming events,
conferences, new publications/reports/abstracts, web sites, training
workshops, international courses, projects, job announcements,
fundraising opportunities, resource information, education/training
sources, internships and voluntary opportunities, etc, pertaining to the
forum.
This forum was launched in Nairobi, Kenya on the occasion of the
Conference of Parties (COP-5) to the Convention on Biodiversity (CBD)
held at UNEP Headquarters on 15-26 May 2000.
