		AI 2001 Call For Papers
	   http://www.cs.ualberta.ca/~stroulia/AI2001

AI 2001 is the Fourteenth Canadian Conference on Artificial
Intelligence, which will be held between June 7 and 9 2001, in Ottawa.
The purpose of this conference is to provide a forum where Canadian and
international researchers and practitioners in Artificial Intelligence
can present their work, exchange scientific ideas and results and
explore possibilities for collaboration. As always, papers may represent
significant contributions to any aspect of AI, including

     Theory
          Knowledge Representation
          Reasoning and Problem Solving
          Machine Learning
          Natural Language Processing
          Evolutionary Algorithms
          Intelligent Agents
          Knowledge Discovery - Data mining
          Expert Systems
     Applications
          Intelligent Information Systems
Integration of AI with other disciplines
	 	 (e.g., biology, software engineering)
Emerging AI Applications on the Internet

The conference is sponsored by the Canadian Society for Computational
Studies of Intelligence (CSCSI/SCEIO). Information on how to join
CSCSI/SCEIO can be found at http://cscsi.sfu.ca/membership.html.

Conference Format

This year, the format of the AI conference will emphasize interaction
among the participants. Following each group of papers on a given topic,
there will be in-depth discussion of the topic area, the work described
in the presentations, and the implications for future research. We expect
the AI 2001 attendees to actively participate in the discussion, so that
they can explore the potential relevance of the presented work in their
own research and give constructive feedback to the presenters.

We are also exploring other ideas for encouraging lively interaction
during the conference. If you would be interested in proposing a
workshop, or a panel discussion, or a birds-of-a-feather session,
please contact the chairs. This page will be regularly updated to
reflect elaborations on the conference format.

Important Dates

November 15, 2000: paper submission (electronic preferred) deadline
January 25, 2001: notification of acceptance or rejection
     March 1, 2001: camera-ready copy due
     June 7-9, 2001: AI 2001

Paper Submission

Paper submission will be electronic. Authors should follow the
instructions at http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/authors.html
regarding the format of the papers. Paper length is 10 pages.

Submission to Multiple Conferences

To encourage interdisciplinary contributions, we will consider work
which has been submitted or presented in part elsewhere. However,
authors must indicate that their paper has been dually submitted and
they must specify where. For questions as to whether a given meeting
is considered under the dual submission policy, or for clarifications
of this policy, authors should contact the Program Chairs.
