EUROPEAN STATES AND THE EURO
A two-day conference
14-15 September 2000
at the British Academy, 10 Carlton House Terrace, London SW1
This conference aims to examine how the advent of the euro is
affecting European states - their political discourse, identities,
structures and policies - as a major case study of 'Europeanization';
whether there are common patterns and significant variations and
how they are to be explained; and how these effects relate both to
the longer historical process of EMU (notably the ERM) and to wider
developments within the European Union and at the global level.
How is the euro affecting European states; what are its effects; who
is affected, and in what ways?
A full programme can be found on the British Academy website
(http://www.britac.ac.uk/meet/lecs/euro.html)
All those interested are welcome to attend, but because of limited
space it is essential to register in advance, and places will be
allocated on a 'first come, first served' basis.
