how cute.
that'll show ole George.
duh.
members new to this list (or to any other), not already aware, should
note that the sending of a 146k posting --even if it were (as was *not* the
case here) filled with useful information-- can pose serious and annoying (as
in childish, stupid and unnecessary) problems for those members with older
and/or slower machines/connections.
also for those with nearly full allotments in their email accounts, including
someone very familiar to anyone reading this post.
your 146k dump in my space, kathryn, caused my account to overflow.
when this happens my provider, after a reasonable time, has in the past
effectively closed my account to new incoming mail until i delete the excess
k's.
if i had not come in on a saturday morning and had instead waited till monday
(as i frequently do) my account would have been in this state, all messages
bounced back to their senders without any notification to me.
i happen to know about these little problems because my first posting to the
medieval art list consisted of several wonderful .jpgs of the bombardment of
reims cathedral in the 14/18 Acute Collective Psychotic Episode. being new
to the game, i had no idea of the chaos my inadvertant (albeit totally
well-intentioned) shenanigans were reaping in various quarters of the world
--until i was told, by remarkably few listmembers with, as i look back on it,
under the circumstances, quite remarkable indulgence.
speaking for myself, i believe i prefer whimsey.
best to all from here,
christopher
