Nijmegen Centre for Border Research
International Seminar 'Binational Cities and their Regions', September
27-28, 2000
Dear Colleagues,
We want to draw your attention to the international seminar of the Nijmegen
Centre for Border Research on 'Binational Cities and their Regions' on
September 27 and 28, 2000. The purpose of the seminar is to develop theory,
arguments and evidence for the existence and prospects of cities that,
because of their close location to both sides of a state border, could be
considered a twin city with two nationalities. In fact, the particular
situation of each 'binational city' is unique, with regard to spatial
position, historical development and cultural-political context. Therefore,
contributions from very different situations have been solicited for this
seminar.
