I've had some off-list requests for more information, so I
thought I would share my response with everybody.
I remember reading about monovision contact lenses in a
number of places. I've included two that I remember below.
I don't have any first hand knowledge of this, but it is
probably like many things in that it may work for some
people but not for others.

Another possible solution I've read about are monovision
contact lenses
(one lens is set for distance and the other is set for
near). This helps
people not to extend their neck to look at something close
(e.g., computer
monitor) that is too high. They use their "near" eye.
I've seen this described on the web but can't remember
where at the
