Dear Comrades,
There is still more than a month before the deadline for abstracts to speak
in the Economic Geography Research Group session for postgraduates at the
IBG. If you would like take part in this geographical jamboree please don't
delay in contacting Anthony or myself.
For those of you who have never been to Plymouth please take this
opportunity to stay in the city, which Sir Francis Drake once called home.
Play bowls, wave the Pilgrims farewell from the Barbican, go to the Armada
Centre, walk on The Hoe, climb Smeeton's Tower, dance with the marines at
Blondz niteclub. Its all here and its all fun.
We are genuinely eager to get some people together for a session and those
who have been before know they are relaxed affairs where people can get a
feel for the conference format.
As yet there is no particular theme, and the aim of the session is to
provide an opportunity to view where postgraduate research in economic
geography is at, and indeed, where it is going. Postgraduates, and those
who have completed their doctoral thesis within the last two years, are
eligible to apply. Papers should be around twenty minutes in length (to
allow for discussion) and a 300 word abstract should be submitted
(preferably by e-mail: RTF format) to either Paul Kent or Anthony Vigor at
one of the addresses below before 24 July 2000.
