*****************************************************
Financial Geographies: firms, knowledges and territoriality
******************************************************
Convenors: Jane Pollard (School of Geography & Environmental Science) and
Francesca Carnevali (School of Modern History), University of Birmingham.
We are organising a paper session for the New York conference concerning the
financial geographies of firms and regions. We are broadly interested in the
financial architectures, knowledges and practices supporting (or hindering)
firms and regional economies and are interested in papers exploring the
following areas:
*· the production and use of financial knowledges in firms,
*· the financing of firms in specialised regions/clusters
*· the historical development of local informal networks of finance.
*· issues of firm finance and governance
Both theoretical and empirically grounded papers are welcome.
Please contact Jane Pollard for further details. Abstracts/disks and copies
of registration materials will be required by August 15 2000 and should be
sent to Jane Pollard. Please get in touch with one of us if you are
interested in participating and want to chat.
Many thanks.
