The University of Sussex has just advertised a lectureship in Human Geography, with a closing
date of 23rd June. Details can be found on jobs.ac.uk.
In the case of this new post there is a strong desire to appoint in the field of economic
geography. Ideally the person appointed will contribute to the teaching of Geography Major
courses in economic geography, interdisciplinary School courses and will make a contribution to
courses in quantitative and research methods.
Please note that applicants who have already submitted an application for the previous Human
Geography post need not reapply, as their applications remain in the system.
Applications are welcome from people interested in economic geography whatever their primary
disciplinary background especially as Sussex offers a strong interdisciplinary environment with
research clusters that span disciplines and encourage cross-disclipline collaboration. There are
for example research groups that bring together geographers and other researchers from the
Sussex European Institute, the Institute of Development Studies, School of Social Sciences and
Science Policy Research Unit to work in areas such as investment, location and trade, trade and
inequality, cohesion and integration, industrial clusters and districts, commodity and value
chains, employment and labour markets and social and geographical mobility.
