Debate on the Practice-Based Ph.D. in Design - Summary follows
The current DRS debate on the practice-based Ph.D. began on April 6 when
Alec Robertson posted to the list a post by Chris Rust on Picasso's Ph.D.
On Tuesday, June 6, I planned to post my summary and conclusions. These
follow in the next post.
Publishing deadlines have taken more time than I expected. This has delayed
some of my final notes. Over the next week, I will post 1) a response to
Luis Pereira, 2) a review of John Wood's article "Against Rigour," together
with some notes on his helpful clarifying post, and 3) a note on the
important sub-thread launched by Sid Newton.
With my summary, I conclude the substantive portion of my contribution to
this debate.
With best regards,
Ken Friedman, Ph.D.
