Dear Jeremy
a) There may be a lumbar problem which could be pre-disposing him to quads
dysfunction due to modified neural input
b) He may be experiencing fear/avoidance. He experienced his quad injury
whils playing football, is therefore, justifiably, anxious about striking
the ball hard against resistance. is more aware of muscle tension in that
thigh - which, in itself adds to the tension and discomfort, and so the
cycle continues. How about graduated exposure to resisted, rapid knee
expension?
