Hi Matt and interested others
This is a little different to what you probably had in mind but in the
same ball park. I marked a very good Honours thesis in OT a couple of
years ago. It was on the space in the home but looked specifically at
mothers of adolescents with cerebral palsy and the spatial arrangements of
the house. Some had created exclusionary zones for their own space,
another had bought a new house with the child's and the mother's needs in
mind.
The study may provoke thought about some of the movement issues from
the
point of view of the house owner. The work to my knowledge has not been
published however I can give you Rachel Mayes (author) email;

teaching a
Leisure & Health class today about spatial arrangements and the changes
in
architecture that has occured with the shift of leisure from community
into the home (home based leisure is most prolific leisure nowadays, in
Australia). That was just a 'by the way'.
Best regards
