Subject: London meeting_Disability studies& Lifelong Learning
Dear all,
My day job is Lifelong Learning Facilitator at a user-led organisation
of disabled people - 'Action Disability Kensington & Chelsea'. I am
leading a new NIACE funded project to promote lifelong learning to
disabled people. The official launch of the project will take place at
the London Lighthouse, Ladbroke Grove, London W10 on Tuesday 23rd May
between 4-6pm. Our guest speaker is Dr. COLIN BARNES from the
Disability Research Unit, University of Leeds who will be promoting the
benefits of adult education for disabled people regardless of age, and
also talking more specifically about pursuing disability studies as a
course of study. Some of Colin's students, the majority of whom are
themselves disabled, will also be available to answer questions from a
learners' perspective.
The venue is fully accessible and the meeting is free and open to all,
but places need to be booked by calling Felicity on 0208960 8888. Please
forward this information to anyone you feel may be interested. For
additional information please e-mail me off list or on
[log in to unmask] or telephone the above number during office
hours.
Hope to see you there!
