The School of European Studies, Cardiff University, will shortly be
advertising two fixed-term lectureships from September 2000:
1. Fixed-term 3 years. The post arises on the promotion of Dr. Stefan
Berger to a Chair elsewhere.
Applicants should be able to teach, and have an active research
record in, German History.
You will be expected to maintain and develop the School of European
Studies' tradition of involvement in German History and its links
with the School of History and Archaeology through the Cardiff Centre
for Modern German History. You will contribute actively to the
teaching and development of language courses, and undertake
examining, pastoral and administrative duties as required.
The School would wish to renew the contract of a suitable applicant
if possible at the end of the 3-year period.
2) Fixed-term 1 year. The post is available during the absence of
Dr.David Jackson on study leave.
Preference will be given to applicants specialising in one or more of
the following areas: Film Studies, Gender Studies, Nineteenth-Century
Literature.
You will be expected to provide at least one course in the areas
mentioned, and to contribute actively to the teaching and development
of language courses and of general courses in German culture. You
will undertake examining, pastoral and administrative duties as
required. It is expected that you will contribute to the research
environment of the School.
