I have been working through Bernard's In Praise of the New Knighthood using
the SC 1990 edition. Once again I am struck by his zealous eloquence. I
don't pretend to have a comprehensive grasp of Crusade literature so my
question: Is there anyone else in this period who presents the position of
Christian soldiery with such magnificent force? (I know I do not have to
add that admiration for his skill is separate from endorsement of his, shall
we say, exotic point of view).
