The Sixth international Congress on the Inclusion of Children With
Disabilities in the Community
October 23-25, 2000

Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
A participatory international meeting of policy makers, researchers,
practitioners, community partners and families to advance a
framework for
inclusion.
The 6th Congress will promote the inclusion of children with
disabilities
in all aspects of their community by:
* enabling the capacity of communities to be inclusive
* fostering the improvement of community services and supports
that
are responsive to children with disabilities and their families by
o improving the co-ordination of education, health, social and
other community services
o understanding more fully how new developments in
education and
care for very young
children might impact on children with disabilities
* strengthening the role of families in a vibrant civil society linking
national and international agendas
of public policy and community action
Celebrate the United Nations' Year for Culture of Peace by supporting
communities to advance a culture which includes children with
disabilities
and respects principles of justice, equality and
democretization.
