Subject: Re: Single handed CPR
Single person CPR with BVM in a moving vehicle was a poster pesentation in
Brighton in 1992. it suggests that the person working from the head of the
stretcher, holding the mask with one hand and performing chest compressions
with the other, produced the same results as two handed/or two person CPR in
a moving vehicle. The operator is stabilised and the driver takes account of
this position.
Also a Paramedic would most likely have intubated the patient, and
therefore
the ventilations would be performed by their ventilator and the person doing
chest compressions would synchronise with the ventilator, allowing one hand
to hold onto the side rail.
If we do not transport patient while CPR is in progress.
What do we do with them?
We empower our paramedic colleagues to certify death in adults with
asystolic or PEA arrest who have not responded to protocol driven
pre-hospital care. Anyone working in A&E knows that attempting to
resuscitate an asystolic arrest 45 mins down the line is a waste of time and
resources
