All this talk of lights and Virgin statues brings to mind the
episode of Ballykissangel where the indefatigable Liam (masquerading as a
professor of history in regulation tweedy suit and hat) and Donal go into
business as keepers of an "ancient" riverside shrine. They are particularly
annoyed when a tourist has the gall to question the authenticity of the
electric light that glows from the area of the statue's heart.
