     Information Policy framework can help the development of the UK as an 
     information society and knowledge economy.

     This study was proposed as a result of the first (1996) Futures 
     Together conference which identified the need for staff and users to 
     be more aware of the region's collections if improved access to 
     specialist resources is to be achieved. It also aimed to encourage 
     better collection management ans set clearer criteria for assessing 
     the value and significance of specialist resources across a whole 
     region. The importance of this work has been highlighted by recent 
     Government strategies on access and the new agendas for culture,

     Review of research funding for LIS

     This study was commissioned by the Library and Information Commission and 
     the British Library Research and Innovation Centre in the Autumn of 1998 
     and was conducted between December 1998 and April 1999 with supplementary 
     work between May and September 1999. The overall aim of the study was to 
     provide the baseline about funding of library and information research in 
     order to inform the work of the Commission and others on encouraging
