Thanks to all the people who replied to me regarding
ultrasound. All seemed to think that the earlier US
began post-injury the better. However, a single dose
of ultrasound during the acute inflammatory stage
(first 48-72 hours)has been shown to cause mast cell
degranulation (Fyfe and Chaff, 1982 and 1985 I think -
I haven't got the reference to hand), leading to
histamine release and increased oedema formation.
Isn't this contradictory to what we are attempting to
achieve by administering the PRICE regime as
reccommended by the ACPSM ? Wouldn't it possibly lead
to increased adhesions ? Am I alone in thinking this?
And does anyone know why Britney Spear's chest seems
to be getting bigger by the day?
Many thanks,
Nick
