Just to say that the TES edition does go back to the year 1,000 and contains a very
interesting piece by Gerald Haigh which refers to the work of Nicholas Orme who is
'working on what will be a seminal work on medieval childhood'. He says, 'the thesis of
the book is that mediaeval children are modern'.
I was the consultant for this millennium editiion. David Budge (who took an MA in History
of Education with us here, and who is the TES's deputy editor) was the editor.
very best to all for the New Year and Millennium,
Richard
