Bard College seeks an International Projects Manager to assist the
director of Bard College's Institute for International Liberal Education
in launching two innovative projects. The first project is a joint
venture with the State University of St. Petersburg, Russia, to develop
Russia's first liberal arts college. Smolny College, which opened in
October, 1999, as part of SPU, will eventually enroll 300 students from
Russia, the U.S., and other countries. The second project, in
collaboration with a consortium of colleges and universities in the
U.S., South Africa, and Zimbabwe, is a collaborative one-month course in
human rights that will begin in June, 2001, and will involve 60-75
students as well as faculty members from the participating institutions.
The responsibilities of the International Projects Manager include
liaison with faculty and administrators at Bard and its partner
institutions, correspondence, grants management and grant-writing,
travel arrangements (including some travel), student recruitment, and
the development of the Institute's web site to facilitate communication
and the sharing of instructional materials.
The International Projects Manager should have excellent oral and
written communication skills, experience in an office or other evidence
of advanced organizational abilities, and a strong interest in
international affairs and international education. Experience in
grant-writing, knowledge of Russia and/or Southern Africa (including
language ability), and a background in web development are desirable.
This is two-year grant-funded position with potential for continuation
beyond the grant period.
