Shell Services International (SSI) provides world-class IT services and
IT-enabled business solutions predominantly to customers in the Shell Group
but also external organisations.
The management consulting practice is a highly successful part of SSI, and
with offices in London, The Hague, Melbourne, Houston and Kuala Lumpur, has
a truly global reach. The offerings of the practice include organisational
development, business process design, eBusiness, strategy development,
financial modelling and business modelling.
The business modelling team is looking for high calibre individuals with
between 0-5 years experience to join a successful and growing team of
consultants.
The Role
The role covers a broad range of technical to softer skills; you will be
expected to provide end-to-end solutions, from initial engagement with
customers through to delivery and communication of results.
Your role will involve:
* Liasing with customers, understanding their needs and being able to
communicate modelling benefits in a common language.
* Structuring complex problems and identifying key focus areas.
* Recommending appropriate solution tools - be it traditional or
innovative approaches.
* Working in a dynamic environment, where time management skills are
essential.
* Ability to work individually or as part of a team, as required.
* Awareness of current trends in subject matter area - with
opportunities to attend and present work at industrial and academic
conferences.
Requirements.
* Educated to at least 1st degree level (preferably with a
postgraduate qualification in OR)
* Detailed knowledge of both discrete event simulation and system
dynamics (preferably with experience of using a major simulation package).
Experience in the application of simulation for the solution of industrial
problems.
* Optimisation, use of mathematical programming techniques (ideally
with experience of solving models using powerful MP software). Familiar with
the application of optimisation techniques to industrial problems.
* Knowledge of bespoke optimisation and modelling methods
* A broad appreciation of statistics including reduction of variance
techniques, design of experiments and probability models.
* Experienced in Visual Basic programming language and experienced in
the use of databases and spreadsheets.
