The National Subject Centre for Geography, Earth and Environmental
Sciences
C & IT Manager
PLYMOUTH CAMPUS
Salary £19588 to £23887 - Grade E (ii)
Context
The UK Higher Education funding councils have recently established a
Learning and Teaching Support Network (LTSN) which consists of 24
Subject Centres. Each one has the aim of promoting and disseminating
good practice in learning and teaching (including the use of C&IT)
within a particular discipline or set of cognate disciplines.
The successful bid for the Subject Centre for Geography, Earth and
Environmental Sciences was prepared by a group of senior academics
under the leadership of the relevant professional bodies and subject
associations. Collaboration was a central feature of the bid’s
preparation and continues to be a hallmark of the Centre’s work. The
Centre, based at the University of Plymouth, is becoming a major
national and international hub in the exchange of knowledge on
learning and teaching across the three disciplines. Its activities
include: conferences, workshops, a biannual publication, a database of
good practice, electronic information gateway, register of expertise
and an enquiry/advisory service.
The Post
Applications are invited for the position outlined below. It is likely
that the successful candidate will possess a good Honours degree in

essential. This position is initially for a two and a half year period
and is likely to be extended for a further two years.
Your responsibilities will include co-ordinating the Centre’s IT and
Web requirements, reviewing C&IT based learning and teaching
developments and materials and overseeing relevant projects.
