Dear Hugh,
(Welcome back to tolhurstetc).
Sorry I was unable to help you with "Three Caryatids...", back then. I'd have approached Margaret Scott, but ... I don't know her well.... so I let it slide.
But you've ferreted it out I see, not bad detective work.

Dear Candice et al
It has taken some time but:-
"Three Caryatids
Without a Portico by Hugh Robus: A
Study in Sculptural Dimensions"
by Sylvia Plath
according to Ariel's Gift (Erica Wagner, p47), was published
by Cambridge student mag, Chequer, circa 1956.
Hughes never mentioned it in the Collected Poems' Juvenilia list,
despite claiming the list to be fairly comprehensive.
My thanks to a researcher called 'Ivy' - who has solved
the central mystery of poetryetc's 'flaming July'.
GREAT TITLES CAN BE RE-USED!
Everybody should do one, I think.
best
Hugh Tolhurst
