Postdoctoral Fellow positions are available in the Laser-Based Diagnostics
Group of the Molecular Physics Laboratory at SRI International in
Menlo Park, California. Our research group develops quantitative
laser-based diagnostic techniques such as laser-induced fluorescence
and cavity ringdown spectroscopy, and applies them to problems in
combustion, the atmosphere, state-to-state chemical dynamics, and
plasma processing.. Current projects include:
HO2 cavity ringdown measurements to monitor chemical reaction rates,
state specific collisional energy transfer measurements on excited NO,
low temperature and pressure methyl radical recombination kinetics,
and experiments to quantify chemiluminescence kinetics in flames to
develop diagnostics for space shuttle experiments.
Our large not-for-profit research insitiute is located near Stanford University,
between San Francisco and San Jose. Two postdoctoral position is available
immediately or in the near future. Experience with laser-based detection,
plus chemical kinetics, collision dynamics, and/or spectroscopy of
diatomic and triatomic radicals is desired. Salary for beginning postdoctoral
fellows is approximately $37,500 plus benefits. Interested candidates
should send a resume to David Crosley or Greg Smith, Molecular Physics
Laboratory, SRI International, 333 Ravenswood Ave. Menlo Park, CA 94025
