Field provided a useful response to the original question, and it
is indeed unfortunate that he chose to editorialize on your
contribution.
Noting Baeda's modus of seeking the best authorities for his works,
one supposes that Glassborow was doing no less.
An important resource at Bede's disposal was Abbot Benedict Biscop's
handsome library at Wearmouth and Jarrow, so one takes consolation
that in urging Glassborow on to a library search, Field was in turn
living up to a Baedan standard.
