In answer to Sue's question "Should the MCG charge a membership fee?".
Personally I am not opposed to charging, but I would like to see the MCG
retain its essentially informal character. In order for the membership
to make an informed decision maybe Sue would outline the additional
opportunities that charging would bring.
If we do decide to charge can I suggest that anybody is allowed to
attend their first meeting without a fee, this would mean prospective
members would be able to sample one of our meeting and it would greatly
help those in remote areas who, whilst they are very interested in the
group, are only able to attend one meeting every few years.
A second suggestion is that we charge only those who wish to receive a
paper copy of the newsletter, and this to cover distribution costs only.
An alternative would be to charge on a meeting by meeting basis to
offset admin costs for that meeting.
BTW Happy New Year, if its not too late.
