The Position: The Department of Geomatics seeks an outstanding post-doctoral
researcher who will make a strong contribution to the development and
application of risk management techniques to quantify uncertainty in
geographic information-based decision making. The position is funded by a
Large Australian Research Council (ARC) Grant, and the successful applicant
will work in an established research team under the supervision of Dr Gary
J. Hunter. The Research Fellow will be required to undertake research,
assist with the preparation of research grants and refereed journal /
conference papers, undertake minor supervision of undergraduate and
postgraduate research students, assist with undergraduate and postgraduate
teaching in Geographic Information Systems and undertake minor duties in
conjunction with the administrative and professional activities of the
Department.
The Person: The successful applicant will have a PhD with research
experience in the treatment of uncertainty in geographic information.
Applicants nearing completion of their PhD will also be considered. A strong
background in the theory, practice and applications of Geographic
Information systems, excellent verbal and written communication skills and a
good record of scholarly publication in international refereed journals are
essential.
The Benefits: Salary $34,934 - $47,410 (Research Fellow Grade 1) plus
employer superannuation contributions of 17 percent; salary packaging
available.
Employment Type: This is full-time fixed-term (research) position for a
period of two years.
