My colleagues and I in the Department of Geology, University of Cincinnati,
would like to set up an image analysis microscopy lab with digital camera,
frame grabber card and software, and image analysis software (we have Zeiss
and Leitz research microscopes).
Our interests include fabric development in metamorphic rocks, bentonite
mineralogy and melt inclusions in phenocrysts, heavy mineral detrital suites
in flysche, bubble nucleation in artificial melts, ooid mineralogy in
carbonates. Moreover, colleagues in classics and anthropology who study the
morphology, texture, and mineralogy of all types of lithic and ceramic
artifacts would like, among other things, to create sets of reference images
for comparative morphometric studies.
We are interested in receiving information about the hardware and software
that you may be using in order to outfit our own lab.
Many thanks for any responses.
cheers,
Craig Dietsch
