I am enjoying reading through all the introductions. It sounds like it will
be an interesting list. I hope I will have the strength of character to
lurk for the most part but I will introduce myself in case I stick my nose
into discussions from time to time.
I am 40 years old and have never married. I have a BS degree in Medical
Laboratory Science and I am currently finishing an MA in
philosophy. My thesis is in social ethics and the topic is John Stuart
Mill's "The Subjection of Women" wich I will be relating to the current
disussions about women's roles in the Evangelical church here in the States.
I am very interested in the intersection between gender and faith or
religion. My pet peeve is with the current trend among some writers who
decry every thing they think is wrong with the church by labeling it as the
"feminization" of the church.
I am also an incurable Anglophile and am hooked on BBC-America (especially
the Vicar of Dibley, Murder Most Horrid and EastEnders, along with the
mysteries). The expression "toe rag" has recently begun creeping into my
vocabulary. Is there any hope for me?
