The thesauri have been available online for nearly a year now. Although
having a different downloadable format has been discussed it is not planned
to have anything downloadable in the immediate future. However, if you
contact Phil Carlisle ([log in to unmask]) or Edmund Lee
([log in to unmask]) at the NMRC they should be able to help since they
have been providing Access versions of the thesauri on request for several
years. The Data Standards Unit policy has been to provide thesauri in access
format. Unfortunately we cannot support a lot of different formats so Access
is provided since it is a widely available format. All users of the exeGesIS
SMR software have the thesauri built within that software and this is
updated from the national standard on a yearly basis.

Dear all
While I welcome the addition of the thesaurii to the web it wouldn't it be
very useful if we could get downloadable files so that these standards can
be immediately implemented by SMRs? I managed to get a the BM Materials
thesaurus in .dbf format and we now use it in the SMR look-up tables, but I
have been unable to get hold of any of the thesaurii listed below.

Are there any plans to make these thesaurii available in such a format?

Thanks in advance

Tim
