The advice from the Commissioner's Code of Practice is that: Yes, a data
subject can ask to see tapes with themselves 'in view'. If 3rd parties
are also captured, these would need to be 'blurred' through editing
techniques. Another extremely costly activity, no doubt.
The only time data subjects don't have the right to view material is where
a criminal investigation would be jeopardised.

Subject: CCTV Puzzle
Hi,
We are embarking on getting our CCTV things up to date. My query is,
what could a data subject ask to be disclosed from a CCTV operation?
Could we have to play back tapes to find a particular clip? And if we do
then what ... if the person sees it s/he sees other persons too and so on.
Regards
Charles
