I am not a regular contributor to this list, but avid reader, and at the
risk of upsetting a few of the readers/contributors may I pose a question
that I do not remember seeing as having been covered.
I have been asked by a work colleague who also happens to be a school
governor, what the responsibilities of a junior school are in respect to the
Data Protection Act.
His school has produced a simple statement (reproduced below) and intend to
publish this as their policy.
"The individual plan and the review statement are personal and confidential
documents. The principals and provisions of the Data Protection Act 1998
will be followed at all times by those who have access to the documents".
As a junior school, there is limited resource available to research the
requirements of the ACT and the implications to schools, hence my
involvement. Does anyone know of a useful site where the information may be
found, other that the Official DPA Site.
