Hello everybody,
I am an 21-year-old Engeneering student from Spain who has just
joined the 'Capital and Class' mail list. I am deeply interested in
Political Economy and Marxism, and about those I have been reading for
the last three years as much as I have been able to. I am moving to
London in a couple of days and I am seeking help in taking advantage of
all the chances that a big and cosmopolitan city such as London can
offer (bibliography, for example). I would like to have the following
questions answered:
- Which are the best libraries of the city to get the books that have
been published for the last years about marxist political economy?
- Are there any seminars, conferences, courses over that subject, to
which I can attend? Where can I find them? I had thought about going to
the "New Left Review" and to "Capital and Class" itself, just to have a
look of what they do in this sense. I have also been told that David
Harvey gives a seminar every year in the "London School". Perhaps it
would be also useful to go to the "School of African and Oriental
Studies".
- My interests at the moment focus to the so-called "New Economy" and
the impact of new technologies on economy. I would be very interested in
investigating something related to this subject, but I feel a bit lost
about it (I need some teaching!). Is anyone else interested in the
subject? Can anyone recommend me some reading about it?
I look forward to recieving some information. My e-mail adress is:

Note: In the long, or perhaps in the medium term, I need to find some
political utility to the studies I am doing at he moment. How to be an
engineer without working for capital but for class, is the question to
which I would like to have an answer. If anybody knows about some
experience of something such as (let us call it like this) "alternative
engineering", please let me know.
Greetings.
