AFLS CONFERENCE 2001 AT THE UNIVERSITY OF LOUVAIN-LA-NEUVE
THEME: L’ANNE EUROPEENNE DES LANGUES :
LA SITUATION DU FRANÇAIS EN EUROPE
Université Catholique de Louvain, Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium, 31 August to 2
September 2001.
In the context of the EU-sponsored ‘Année Européenne de Langues’, the
Association for French Language Studies invites proposals for papers in the
following broad areas:
– Issues in French language teaching, in relation to the European context
and beyond;
– Language policy in relation to French in Europe and beyond;
– Description and theory of the French language, in France and other
European countries
Within these areas there will be room for the research strands that are
traditionally of interest to various parts of the AFLS membership:
theoretical and descriptive linguistics; sociolinguistics; second language
acquisition; applied linguistics and pedagogy. As in previous years, there
will be a balance between theoretical and applied aspects of research into
French. In addition, proposals are welcomed from scholars researching in
these areas who are not AFLS members.
If you wish to offer a paper, please send an abstract of up to 200 words
(preferably by e-mail as an attachment in Word) to:

Papers should be of 20 minutes duration. First deadline: 15 December 2000
