Research on Haversian canals in France in the '30s and
in Germany in the '80s (?) has indicated that animal
long-bones can be identified as to genus/species by
observing the size, frequency, and shape of the
Haversian canals. Age, health, etc. might also be
estimated using the canals. This work was not done in
terms of archaeology and does not seem to have been
noticed by archaeologists. I have tried to get
some-one (especially a zoologist) to work with me on
this but with-out success. Is there any-one out there
who is interested?
