<italic>Senior Lecturer in German/Lecturer in German


</italic>Senior Lecturer position authorized.  Possible Lecturer
position, pending authorization.  Renewable, non-tenure track
appointments, beginning July 2001.  Possible multiple positions of
Senior Lecturer/Lecturer with rank commensurate with years and level of
experience.  Responsibilities include language instruction at all
levels, cooperative coordination of language program, curriculum
development, and participation in extracurricular activities.  Senior
Lecturer duties include supervision and evaluation of TA's.  Minimum
qualifications: M.A. or equivalent in German
language/literature/culture, native or near-native fluency in German
and English, significant teaching experience at college level,
familiarity with latest teaching methodologies and technology-assisted
language instruction.  Send application (specify rank to be

</italic>Temporary, full-time, July 2001-June 2002.  Ph.D. in German
culture, evidence of good teaching and scholarly potential, native or
near-native fluency in German, excellent writing skills in English
required.  Two-course load per semester includes combination of
first-year writing seminars in English (training provided), upper-level
language and culture classes in German, and one graduate seminar in
primary field.  Specialization open; strengths in studies of gender and
sexuality preferred.  Send application, complete dossier (including
letters of recommendation), writing sample, and two sample syllabi
(preferably one undergraduate and one graduate) to Prof. Leslie A.

</italic>The Society for the Humanities invites applications for a
one-year teaching-research fellowship, 2001-2002.  Critical approaches
to gender, sexuality, and/or performance in German Studies are
welcomed; pre-twentieth-century specializations preferred.  Candidates
must have received the Ph.D. degree after September 1995.  Only
citizens of the US, Canada, or holders of permanent US-residency cards
may apply.  All application materials, including letters of
recommendation, must be postmarked on or before January 3, 2001.  For
