sorry about the slip
I have no illusions about what science journalists are trying to achieve (i
didn't think i'd suggested otherwise), though they would have to admit that
a society more appreciative of science could only be good for them
the trouble is that there are a few journalists who have very strong views
on the status of science and scientists, with the result that some of us get
confused occasionally
