Isn't there a wider issue here? Does a basically 19th century model of
communication (ie lectures, talks, demos) still work/reach a
non-specialist audience?
A example from a different culture: how does the audience (size and
profiles) of the various summer music with fireworks and a picnic events
compare with those of mainstream concerts?
I suspect that mass communication today requires either an incentive
(1812 overture and fireworks) or to be done on the TV.
Obviously SPARKS is taking the 1812 route *-)
